Linda Elias Memorial Scholarship Fund

Linda Elias, one of Southern California’s most successful female sailboat racers, passed away on January 3, 2003 after a nine year battle with ovarian cancer, at the age of 52.  A winner of the Peggy Slater Yachtswoman of the Year Award, she raced the Transpac in 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1999.

Her women's sailing team is a three time champion of the Women's One Design Challenge sponsored by LB Women's Sailing Association and the Long Beach Yacht Club. In memory of Linda, the Long Beach Sailing Foundation, established the Linda Elias Sailing Scholarship Fund to continue her support and encouragement of individuals who have actively demonstrated a willingness and desire to advance in the sport of both women's and men's amateur sailing.
