Fundraising events are fun!
The Sailing Foundation hosts annual fundraising events to jump start and sustain initiatives that part of our core mission and to get the sailing community together for some fun in the process.
Each Monday before the Long Beach Yacht Club’s Congressional Cup regatta begins, the Sailing Foundation hosts the Congressional Cup Golf Tournament, pairing folks from the local community with sailors for the international teams competing in the Congressional Cup, for some friendly golf competition. The proceeds raised by the tournament are dedicated to help underwrite the cost of Sailing Foundation’s STEM educational partnership with a local public school district.
The Linda Elias Memorial Women’s One Design Challenge, in its third decade, takes place each October. The all-woman invitational sailing regatta pits teams from yacht clubs and local sailing associations against each other to win the honor of putting their name on the perpetual trophy for this prestigious women’s event. The event is a partnership between the Long Beach Sailing Foundation, the Long Beach Yacht Club and the Long Beach Women’s Sailing Association. The proceeds of the regatta and associated fundraiser are the primary source of funds for the Linda Elias Memorial Sailing Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the Long Beach Sailing Foundation.
