The goal of the Sailing Foundation's Middle School STEM program is to foster an interest in science, technology, engineering and math through sailing. A collaboration between the Long Beach Sailing Foundation, the Long Beach Yacht Club and the Buena Park School District, middle school students receive hands-on integrated learning opportunities using sailing as a platform. BPSD teachers are certified to teach the US Sailing Reach curriculum and the sailing coaches are experienced volunteer sailors from the LBYC and LBSF communities.
Field trips, onsite sailing based activities and underwater robotics are the cornerstones of this popular program. The Sailing Foundation provides funding, resources and connections to ensure the program's success.
