Want to Sailing on a Catalina 37? Not a Sailor? No experience? No Problem!
Sailing Academy is a partnership between the Long Beach Yacht Club and the Sailing Foundation. It is a light classroom and hands on introduction to sailing on the Catalina 37s. It is open to both LBYC members and non-members at least 18 years of age and older.
The instruction is done by experienced coaches who race the Catalina 37s all the time in match racing and fleet racing. Participants will learn terminologies and the basics of sailing, learning what to do and when. After learning the basics, you will put in practice the principles learned in the classroom, each person have an opportunity to work every position on the boat under the guidance of the coaches. You will also have the experience of racing a world class racing sailboat.
Many Sailing Academy alumni, most with no prior sailing experience, return to the Sailing Academy to sharpen their skills or move on to more extensive training.
